Richard Leonard Lapinsky Sr., 77 peacefully passed away July 10, 2018 after a stroke followed by years of declining health. Mr. Lapinsky was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 22, 1941 to the late Russel and Gladys Sylvester Lapinsky. He proudly served in the United States Navy, was a proud officer of the Philadelphia Police Department, and more recently worked as a contractor and home remodeler in the Union County area. In his retirement years he, along with his wife, embraced a new calling - that of being prayer warriors for their ever expanding family. He fervently believed their prayers were charting a course for eternity. To most of his family’s delight, the Lord even answered his prayer of having his Philadelphia Eagles win their first Super Bowl before he left this world.
Mr. Lapinsky is survived by his faithful wife of nearly 55 years, Elizabeth Lapinsky of Monroe, NC; daughters, Susan Fowle (Daniel) of Gainesville, GA; Jennifer Szupka (Tony) of Sumter, SC; Kimberly Speelman (Stephen) of Unionville, NC; Beth Harris (Adam) of Dallas, TX; Rachel Broome (Chuck) of Knoxville, TN; and son, Richard Lapinsky Jr. (Alison) of Monroe, NC. He is also survived by 23 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Russel Lapinsky Jr.and great grandson, Judson Hampton Langley. The whereabouts of his half-brother, William F. Davis II is unknown.
A service celebrating his life will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, July 16, 2018 at Joy Church in Matthews, NC. where his loyal friend, Ralph Serrapica will officiate. Interment will follow at Corinth Baptist Church in Monroe, NC where a private graveside ceremony will be held.
